Preparing for DRDO CEPTAM Tier I - Percentage

Hello Again. Answer of the yesterday Mock test is posted in the comment. You can check here.

Today's topic is Percentage. In this post we will learn shortcuts, formula and tricks to solve percentage. many of you may already know these tricks. It is important for you to get the formula clear, as it will save tons of your time.

Lets get started !

1st: We can express percentage as total part of 100. For example, 1% can be expressed as 1/100. 50% can be expressed as 50/100.

2nd: To express a/b in percentage, we can use : (a/b x 100)%
For example 2/4 can be expressed in percentage as (2/4 x 100)%

  = (2 x 25)% = 50%.

3rd: Suppose "X" is the population of a city right now, and it increases at the rate of Y% every year. Then:

 Population after n years =

Population n years ago =

4th: Suppose value of an item is x, and it depreciates at the rate of y% annually.  Then:

Value of the item after n years:

Value of the items n years ago:

5th: If A is R% more then B, B is less then A by :

      If A is R% less then B, B is less then A by :

6th : To what percentage of A is B:

                              B/A x 100

7th : To calculate percentage change in value :

      Percentage change = {Change/(Initial Value)} x 100

8th : Increase A by B% = A(1 + B/100)
        Decrease A by B% = A(1 - B/100)
