Welcome All. We are back again with another post. Continuing our series on Quantitative Aptitude, we will cover "Time and Work". Before we continue,  register here, and attempt the free mock tests available.

Time and Work is an important topic in Quantitative Aptitude. One of the simplest technique to solve problems based on Time and work is to use denominator.

For example if Person "X" can do a job in 2 days, then his efficiency will be
                  1/2 = 50%.
If X can do a job in 5 days, then job done by him in one day will be 1/5

Lets solve few examples:

Example 1: Ramesh can do a job in 10 days, and Suresh can do it in 5 days. If they work together, in how many days they can complete the same job?

Answer:
           Efficiency of Ramesh = 100/10 = 10%
           Efficiency of Suresh = 100/5 = 20%
           Combined Efficiency = 30%
           So Total duration = 100/30 = 3.33 Days

Example 2: Ramesh, Mahesh and Suresh can complete a work in 20 minutes. If Ramesh and Mahesh can complete it together in 60 minutes, then how long Suresh will take to complete the work?

Answer:

Time taken by Suresh = (Time taken by all three) - (Time taken by Ramesh and Mahesh)
                                = (1/20) - (1/60) = (1/30) = 30 minutes.

Lets solve some problems now. Head over to the below link and attempt the test.
